Two Minutes' Hate was a student radio programme which ran for three years on the online station, University Radio Falmer, in Brighton.
The series presenter Lily Rae approached me to write an opening theme, along with a number of other stings, with the specific instruction that it was to sound similar to Dick Dale's famous recording of Misirlou from the soundtrack of Pulp Fiction.
I produced this 30 second theme tune, arranged for a 1960s surf-style line up of (sampled) drums, picked bass guitar, and electric guitar. The tone of the guitar playing the main melody was achieved by layering six different takes of the same tune on top of each other, creating that fat, American rock guitar sound.
