Nightscapes was my first creative collaboration with timelapse photographer and DP Phil Arntz. He was living in London at the time, and it was nice to be able to work face to face, as opposed to communicating via phone and email.



Phil had been using a piano-driven orchestral track by the Cinematic Orchestra as a placeholder, and we both felt that this was a suitable approach for the final soundtrack. London is a functional city, not known for its friendliness, but fascinating in its culture and provenance, so I felt the music needed to reflect this. I wanted to make a track that painted a picture of a place teeming with activity, both work and play - not extravagant, but rich and full of intrigue.



Nightscapes has accrued over 20,000 plays on Vimeo since its release in January 2012.
